Was ist Seafile?

Seafile ist ein Softwaresystem zur Verwaltung selbst gehosteter Dateien in der Cloud mit Apps für Computer, Laptops und Mobilgeräte.

Sie können Bibliotheken, Verzeichnisse und Dateien für andere Benutzer und externe Dritte freigeben. Integrierbar in Plesk Premium Email.

Dateien auf dem Seafile-Server können auch direkt über die Weboberfläche des Servers aufgerufen werden. Die Funktionalität von Seafile ähnelt anderen populären Diensten zum Datei-Hosting wie Dropbox und Google Drive. Der Hauptunterschied zwischen Seafile und Dropbox/Google Drive besteht darin, dass Seafile eine Lösung für die Freigabe von selbst gehosteten Dateien für private Cloud-Anwendungen ist. In privaten Clouds werden Speicherplatz und Anzahl der zugelassenen Client-Verbindungen ausschließlich von der Infrastruktur und den Einstellungen des Benutzers bestimmt und nicht von den Geschäftsbedingungen eines Cloud-Dienstanbieters.

Außerdem können Organisationen, deren Datenschutzrichtlinien die Nutzung öffentlicher Cloud-Dienste nicht ermöglichen, auf Seafile zurückgreifen, um ein eigenes System zur Dateifreigabe aufzubauen.
